Nights out to remember - for the right reasons #WeWalkAway

Walk Away is a behaviour change campaign aimed at reducing deaths and serious injuries in men aged 25+ by empowering men to look out for the early behaviours in themselves and their friends, which might lead to altercations and encouraging early de-escalatory actions and to walk away.

The new campaign encourages self-control, support from friends and for men to walk away from heated situations before other people become violent. It also calls on friends and bystanders of potential offenders, as well as members of the public, to de-escalate situations when it’s safe to.

The campaign offers tips to prevent violence on a night out.

A number of assets have been developed to enable businesses and venues working in the night time economy to share the campaign with their customers and service users.

Visit https://wewalkaway.uk/toolbox/ (selecting South Yorkshire Police from the drop down menu) to access copies of Walk Away campaign resources including posters, artwork for digital screens and assets for use across your social media channels.

The campaign also features a quiz to find out what role men play in their group of mates.

The Walk Away campaign is funded by the Home Office and is coordinated through the National Police Chiefs' Council.
